AI‑Accelerated Research: A Technique that Reduces a 7‑Day Literature Review to 4 Hours

A training session titled “AI‑Accelerated Research: A Technique that Reduces a 7‑Day Literature Review to 4 Hours” was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Karataş, a faculty member of the School of Foreign Languages at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University. The training focused on Boolean search strategies in the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases, reference management using Zotero, abstract analysis with artificial intelligence tools, and in‑depth article reading techniques using Google NotebookLM.

Detailed Training Content Included:

• Developing Boolean search patterns for research variables using a recent article published in an SSCI‑indexed journal as a concrete example.
• Extracting article abstracts and bibliographic information simultaneously from WoS and Scopus.
• Combining indexes and creating reference lists and abstract files using the Zotero reference management software.
• Analyzing 800–1000 article abstracts according to the research focus using AI tools (Claude Opus 4.5, Gemini 3 Pro) and converting the results into relational tables.
• Reducing a pool of 800–1000 articles to approximately 55–65 core/seed/fundamental papers based on relevance criteria through AI prompting.
• Conducting in‑depth reading and analysis of core articles and identifying critical insights using Google NotebookLM.
• Discovering new research topics and potential research directions from the core literature.
