The Compulsory Foreign Language Course Exemption Examination is coordinated by the School of Foreign Languages and administered at the faculties, schools and vocational schools.
The examination will be held on Thursday, 17 September 2026 at 10:00 in all academic units (faculties, schools and vocational schools). The academic units will make the arrangements for students to take the examination.
What are the compulsory foreign language courses?
The compulsory foreign language courses are Foreign Language I-II, which newly enrolled university students are required to take pursuant to subparagraph (ı) of the first paragraph of Article 5 of Law No. 2547.
Who may take the Compulsory Foreign Language Course Exemption Examination?
Students who have newly enrolled at our university and wish to be exempt from the compulsory foreign language courses may take the exemption examination.
Is it compulsory to take the Compulsory Foreign Language Course Exemption Examination?
Participation in the Compulsory Foreign Language Course Exemption Examination is NOT compulsory.
Where is the Compulsory Foreign Language Course Exemption Examination held?
The examination is held at the faculty, school or vocational school in which the student is enrolled. For example, a student enrolled in the Organic Agriculture programme at Avanos Vocational School takes the examination at Avanos Vocational School, while a student enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering takes it in the Faculty of Engineering building on the main campus.
What should I do to take the Compulsory Foreign Language Course Exemption Examination?
Students wishing to take the examination may apply to the faculty, school or vocational school in which they are enrolled. As procedures may vary between faculties, schools and vocational schools, students should regularly check the announcements on their academic unit’s website.
Are students who pass the examination exempt only from the autumn semester foreign language course? Will there be an exemption examination for the spring semester?
Students who pass the Compulsory Foreign Language Course Exemption Examination are exempt from both Foreign Language I in the autumn semester and Foreign Language II in the spring semester. No second exemption examination is held for the spring semester.
